Custom
Custom jewellery at Cota is an artist-led process, guided by your ideas and preferences. It begins with a consultation where you can bring references, inspiration, and any stones you’d like to use. The artist then designs the piece in collaboration with you—translating your direction into a wearable, technically sound object—before fabrication begins.
Cota artists design all custom work. Clients are welcome to arrive with ideas, references, and a clear sense of what they love, then work closely with the artist to shape the direction. This ensures technical and material details—stone setting, proportions, durability, comfort, and finish—are resolved properly.
Custom pieces typically take 6-8 weeks, depending on the artist, complexity of the design, and stone availability.
Yes. Engagement rings and wedding bands are central to Cota’s custom practice. Wedding bands can be artist-designed to pair precisely with an existing engagement ring, or to stand confidently on their own.
That’s common. You can begin by choosing a stone, sharing a few references, or starting a consultation with an artist. Many clients create a meaningful starting point, then return with the recipient to refine the final design details together.
You can also purchase a ready-to-wear piece which we can exchange unworn, or a gift voucher.
Re_store is Cota’s approach to transforming existing jewellery into new contemporary pieces. Clients bring in old jewellery, which is carefully dismantled. Stones are assessed and retained, while all gold is traded in and refined. The value of the refined gold is credited toward the new piece, reducing the overall cost. The materials are then re-imagined into an artist-designed piece you’ll genuinely want to wear.
Yes. Many Re_store and custom commissions begin with stones clients already own, including family heirlooms.
Yes. Custom jewellery is often commissioned to mark anniversaries and significant milestones—such as 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 years.
Pricing varies depending on the artist, materials and complexity of the design. A budget range is discussed during the initial consultation before work begins.
The process will be facilitated by the Co_ta team, at times including communication with the artist.
Yes. Clients outside Sydney can begin with a phone or virtual consultation and continue the process remotely.
